When asked yesterday if he planned to participate in tha World Basketball Championship tournament in Turkey this summer, LeBron James responded “I’m probably not playing.” This statement comes on tha heels of Dwyane Wade also announcing that he didn't plan to play for Team USA this summer either. In response, USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo said that that there were "no free passes to London” and that any player that skipped tha tournament in Turkey this summer without a valid explaination would risk losing their roster spot. Colangelo didn't say players who didn't play this summer would automatically be be replaced, but he did give a stern warning to those planning to miss the tournament. "If someone decides to pass without a legit issue, they do it with an understanding of the risk.”
I doubt either LeBron or Flash would be excluded from tha 2012 Olympics, but I don't nessesarily think it's a good look for them to skip the World Championships for no apparent reason. I personally think they should play with tha rest of their teammates this summer, but if they don't I'm not mad at them either. Stay tuned to see how this plays out.
